Opening ceremonies with Sovereign Gill-Norris singing Oh Canada!

Dear Editor

The Loggers Show was, indeed, a “blast” from start to finish and in every way. I could not believe that Veteran’s Park was created in less than six months by Gary Anderson with the assistance of many friends and without the help of Bowen Island taxpayers. There was  a pancake breakfast by The Snug, a beer garden by The Legion, a food tent run by the firefighters and burgers by Alderwood Farm.  I am very grateful for Peter King for providing the shuttle bus from BICS to Veteran’s Park. The Opening with the bagpipes, the red coats on the Mounties and the singing of “Oh Canada” reminded us of the respect we have for those women and men in whose name this park was created. There was lots of pole climbing, sawing and axe throwing for the very young men and women of all ages and experience. It was perfect day and there were many happy faces. The amazing band, The Texicanos, was a wonderful windup for a fantastic day as the sun set and the lights came on in the tents. Thanks Gary and all your friends and volunteers for demonstrating the real spirit of Bowen Island. I loved every moment of it!
