Highways 3 and 99 in Interior B.C. have reopened to essential traffic Monday afternoon.

The Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure announced the move after assessments and cleanup from the latest storm this weekend, which saw pre-emptive closures as rain poured down Saturday and into Sunday.

Highway 3 between Hope and Princeton is open to essential travel only. Travellers are advised to expect delays.

Highway 99 between Pemberton and Lillooet is also essential travel only. Vehicle weight restrictions are in place, to ensure only those with a licensed gross weight under 14,500 kilograms are permitted to use that section of highway.

Highway 1 between Abbotsford and Chilliwack remains closed, as does Highway 1 between Highway 9 and Hope in the Bridal Falls area.

MoTI warns that another storm is approaching the south coast this week, and says the ministry continues to monitor the weather closely. Further road closures may be required.
