KELOWNA, B.C. — Police say a man was seriously injured after being run over by a truck near a homeless camp in Kelowna, B.C.
RCMP say in a news release alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident early Sunday, just after midnight.
They say officers responded to a 911 call on the Rail Trail near Baillie Avenue.
They arrested the driver of a black Dodge Ram with an Alberta licence plate.
Police say those at the scene aided the victim until the fire department and paramedics could safely take him to the hospital, where he is receiving care.
They say the investigation is ongoing.
"The area near the accident was populated by several individuals living in temporary shelters and tents. We are grateful no one else was injured," Cpl. Judith Bertrand said.
