More than $15,000 has been raised for a woman after an alleged “horrific” incident in East Vancouver.

A GoFundMe fundraiser does not identify the woman involved but says her friends were at a Vancouver pub when they noticed she was missing from the group on Nov. 4.

The post claims the woman left the pub in a taxi with another person. She was found hours later “having been brutally assaulted,” according to the GoFundMe page created by Annelie Free.

"Her injuries are extensive and she will require a considerable amount of time to heal physically and emotionally,” Free writes.

Vancouver Police Const. Tania Visintin confirmed to Glacier Media that officers have met with the individual and have determined that “some details contained in the social media post were inaccurate.”

“Though we are limited in what detail we can provide about the ongoing investigation, we can say that, at this time, it does not appear to have been sexually motivated,” says Visintin.

Police say there is no known risk to the public.

According to the online fundraising campaign, the woman is heading home to Mexico and needs to have dental work done as she lost three teeth in the incident.
