Woman dead, man arrested in Richmond on Friday morning

IHIT is investigating the incident that took place in a residential unit in the Capstan neighbourhood.

Homicide investigators have been called in after a woman died in Richmond on Friday, July 18, 2025.

A woman has died and a suspect has been arrested in the Capstan area Friday morning.

Richmond RCMP were called around 10:40 a.m. on July 18 to a "serious incident" in a residential unit on Capstan Way, near Sexsmith Way.

"Upon arrival, a female victim was located and transported to hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased," said Cpl. Melissa Lui, media relations officer with Richmond RCMP.

Lui said a male suspect has been arrested.

The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) has been called in and is taking over the investigation.

Police say there is no ongoing risk to public safety.
