Celebrate the season of giving with the Undercurrent (nope, we're not talking about subscriptions)

We're looking for stories of individuals and organizations charitably contributing to Bowen, in big ways and in small ways.

Islanders are giving with their time, their money and their words. We have the annual August Undercurrent edition that presents Bowen Island Museum and Archives’ annual feature, “citizens who make a difference,”  but this cannot cover everyone who does good on this island.

To celebrate the generosity of our community, this week’s edition of the Undercurrent will be a special feature dedicated to the charitable works of islanders and island organizations.

To help make this feature impactful and show readers all the giving possibilities that exist on Bowen, we are encouraging individuals and organizations to submit brief accounts of charitable deeds performed here.

We’re looking for the employees who go the extra mile when no one’s looking or the harried parents who take a second to help a neighbour while trying to wrangle their gaggle of children.

As we enter the giving season, we want to hear how non-profits on-island have helped you or your family.

Or, if you just have a lovely story of giving, we’d like to hear that too!

If you have questions or concerns about a story you’d like to write, I’d be more than happy to help you out.

If you have editorial submissions, the editorial deadline’s been extended to 5 p.m. Tuesday (ad space still needs to be requested by 2 p.m. today.)
