Nov. 11 usually means hundreds of islanders gathering by the cenotaph to remember those who have died in the line of duty.

This year will be different.

As a pandemic precaution, the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 150 (Bowen Island Legion) will film the entire ceremony in advance without an audience and then broadcast the ceremony at around 11:30 a.m. on Remembrance Day.

Bowen Flower Shop's Caroline and Devon Walker will be creating their environmentally preferred wreaths. Islanders who would like to have a wreath placed should contact Caroline at 604-947-2278 to order and Lorraine Ashdown at 778-688-2061 with the name you'd like announced. "The Legion did not order any plastic wreaths from Dominion Command this year," said the Legion's newsletter.

"As we cannot host our traditional afternoon lunch at the Hall following the ceremony, Yvonne [McSkimming] is planning a drive-through dinner for that evening...more info to follow on that," said the newsletter.
