It is September and the Bowen Island Tuesday Community Lunch Program held at the Legion Hall is set to resume, with the first of the lunches coming up on September 10 and 24. Held on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month, with a break over the summer months, this successful program is entering its fourth year. It is sustained by volunteers from Seniors Keeping Young, Little Red Church, The Caring Circle, Snug Cove House, and the Legion. Chef Erik Miller of Tuscany fame will create two homemade soups for each lunch (one vegetarian) and artisan breads, dessert, and tea and coffee round out the menu.

Who attends? Anyone over 18 is welcome and attendees have been anyone from people working at home wanting to get out and socialize, to groups of friends and seniors who enjoy eating the delicious nourishing soups served and not having to clean up.

For menus and upcoming dates, please visit the Bowen Island Community Lunch Facebook page and join us anytime between 11:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a $5 lunch.

You can even bring an empty container to buy soup to take home.
