As the holiday fog lifts and 2020 gets underway, 'tis the season to dispose of Christmas trees.

Bowen Islanders who don't want to use this year's tree as next year's yule log have a couple of options.

Bowen Island Recycling Depot on Mt. Gardner Rd. is providing a bin for free tree disposal between Jan. 2 and Jan. 12. BIRD asks that people ensure all decorations are removed before leaving the tree. Artificial trees are not accepted.

The Bowen Island volunteer firefighters and Robert Clayton of Bowen Island Tree Service will offer by-donation Christmas tree chipping services at the main fire hall on Grafton Rd. Saturday, Jan. 4 between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Proceeds will go to supporting the volunteer firefighters. Presumably artificial trees are also not accepted.
