A Guinness World Record adjudicator was in White Rock to measure the world's longest charcuterie board.

A new world record has been set in Metro Vancouver.

White Rock's famous pier was the home to the world's longest charcuterie board this Labour Day weekend, as Sheila's Catering Company set up a massive spread running 500 feet.

The big board was created as a fundraiser for several White Rock groups, including Sources Community Resource Centre and the Friends of the Pier Society.

Local comedian and comedy therapist Lizzie Allan MC'd the event; in a video she posted at the event she showed a Guinness World Record adjudicator walking the length of the board to confirm the record.

"I have an official announcement, that we have broken the world record for the longest charcuterie board in the world," Allan announces later in the video.

Prior to the event, Sheila's Catering owner Wes Levesque told V.I.A. that an estimated 200 pounds of cheese and 200 pounds of meat were needed for the event; the plan for the leftovers was to donate them, as long as it was safe to do so.

To keep the food safe before and while it was being served, ice blankets, volunteers, and a hawk were used to keep things cool and seagull-free.
