Delrios Restaurant in South Surrey is officially closed. The family-owned Italian spot was a staple in the Ocean Park community for nearly 30 years.

The last two years hit the industry hard, says a Facebook post announcing the closure of the family-owned Delrios restaurant.

At the end of January, owners of the South Surrey pizza and pasta spot announced the business would be closing for good after 27 years and the community is devastated.

"It has been our pleasure to see generations of families pass through our doors, give hundreds of local kids their first jobs and be a part of your special celebrations. They will be some of our most cherished memories," reads the post.

Indeed, locals have taken to sharing their first job memories on social media.

"I loved working for [owner Hormoz Houchmand]. For 10 years I [was] devoted to bringing my style of service to Delrios. My son was in the kitchen for six of those years," says one former employee.

"This place was a staple in my childhood and then became a job for me during the hardest times in my life," recalls another.

People are also sharing memories of visiting the Ocean Park Italian restaurant to celebrate milestones like 90th birthdays or just for Sunday Rib Night.

The heartfelt announcement also asks people to continue supporting other local businesses in the area.

Delrios's last day of service was Jan. 22 and the restaurant's website is no longer online.
