Nine lucky TransLink buses are all dressed up for the holiday season.
The Reindeer Buses are back as of Tuesday, Nov. 28. The West Coast Express Santa train will also be returning for two Saturdays in December.
The festive, decorated buses "will be dispersed all throughout the depots all throughout Vancouver. Their routes will change every single day," TransLink spokesperson Jawn Jang said at a press conference.
The popular Reindeer Buses are returning to Metro Vancouver roadways not only to add a fun Christmas sight on the city's streets but also to collect toys for kids in the region. The goal is 3,500 presents.
"Toys for Tots, now in its 38th year, collects toys and cash donations from staff at Coast Mountain Bus Company, BC Rapid Transit Company, HandyDART, Transit Police and TransLink offices, and delivers them to the Lower Mainland Christmas Bureau," explains TransLink in a press release.
Over the years more than 93,000 toys have been donated, along with $54,320. Those wishing to donate should not just leave a present on the bus when they get off, but actually go to the TransLink customer centre at Waterfront Station or the SkyTrain customer assistance counter at the Commercial-Broadway stations. The Lonsdale Quay SeaBus terminal will also have a spot.
The festive vehicles will be all dressed up until the new year.
