Watch: Crews trigger avalanche in northwest B.C.

The provincial government has published some spectacular footage of recent avalanche control work in northwest B.C.

The video posted by BC Transportation and Infrastructure shows a triggered avalanche along Highway 37A near Stewart, just east of the Alaska panhandle.

“If you weren't an avalanche nerd before seeing this — welcome to the club,” said the post.

Provincial avalanche technicians are stationed at eight key locations across B.C., keeping a close eye on weather and snowpack conditions in 62 avalanche-prone areas.
