Bike riding on Bowen requires legs of steel and lungs to match, but for Jeanette Wrenshall her daily commute is a breeze with her new wheels. Outfitted with an electric assist, she charges her bike every night with the same batteries that fuel her off-the grid home.

β€œIt also charges when I am braking or pedaling,” she says. β€œI can really move on this, I love it.”

Wrenshall says that it takes her roughly 20 minutes to cycle the 12 km to her barber shop in the Cove in the morning and 35 minutes to get home at the end of the day.
