The Bowen Island Garden Club would like to invite you to 609 Cates Hill Road for our second open-garden of the season.
This stunning property has been 25 years in the making. From a clear-cut slope, determined hard work, coupled with a big imagination, terraces, gardens, ponds orchards, vegetables and a vineyard have come into being.
The orchard garden features raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, even kiwis, persimmon, and on the hottest slopes pomegranates.
Given the difficulties we all labour with on Bowen of limited water supplies you will discover the Van Berkels have learned to store water and use it sparingly and effectively over the large area of the property. Composting and pig muck should be added to the ingredients of success in creating this Eden.
This event will take place on Sunday, May 18th from 1.00 -3.00 P.M. Visitors are requested to park on Cates Hill Road and not in the driveway. There is a small admission’s charge for non-members who can elect to buy a full membership on-site.
