Another successful Bowen Farmers Market season in the books

It was a bountiful harvest at the 2022 Farmers Market finale

The last Farmers’ Market of the 2022 season was held on Oct. 8 at Bowen Island Community School and it wrapped up a bountiful season with a cornucopia of local produce and things made, grown and baked on Bowen, including a pumpkin sale.

A huge thanks to all the people who came out to support the local vendors, from the youthful entrepreneurs to the more seasoned vendors.

Congratulations to the Bowen Island Heritage Preservation Association for a successful heritage apple pie sale. Helen Wallwork, Kat Haxby, Deb Donnelly, Susanne Phillipe, Daphne Fargher, Sarah Haxby (myself), and Sharon Slugget worked as a team to create 59 pies made with local apples that were sold at the Farmer’s market as a way to keep BIHPA and the spirit of the traditional Applefest event alive!

Thank you to all the pickers, peelers and pie makers for turning over 120 lbs. of fruit into delicious pies, and thanks to the community for the enthusiasm in pie purchasing!!! The pies sold out in under half an hour!
