Student bursaries and small grants for community organizations and social sustainability projects are all offered by the Knick Knack Nook, but application deadlines are coming up quickly.
Our student bursaries total $10,000 and are available to students with ties to Bowen who are intending to pursue post-secondary programs with an emphasis on environmental sustainability. Applications should be received by May 30.
In 2014, we will be giving $4,550 in grants to local community organizations. Priority will be given to projects on Bowen that contribute to environmental responsibility and include one or several aspects of the following goals:
- principles of zero-waste
- recycling
- composting
- food security
- encouragement of minimal consumerism, and/or education regarding any of these goals
The Grant Committee meets in June and October to consider applications. Applications must be submitted by May 15th for the June meeting, and by September 15th for the October meeting.
