Bowen Island Horse Owners and Riders Association (BIHORA)has been a part of Bowen heritage for about 30 years. For the last 20 years BIHORA has had an annual Manure Sale that the community has always enthusiastically scooped up. This year the Manure Sale will be on Saturday, April 5 from 10 AM – 12 PM, in front of BICS.
Why not buy local manure as a green alternative to driving to town to buy it at a big box store? At the same time you can make Bowen Island more sustainable. Horse manure is high in nitrogen, moderate in phosphorus and high in potash, and you can get it from horses right here on Bowen Island.
BIHORA sells composted manure that is ready to apply directly to your garden. Some uses of horse manure compost are as mulch around your landscaping and garden plants, as a soil amendment for sandy or clay soil, and as a great food for your plants. Come early so you don't miss out!
