Be part of Bowfest by submitting your entries to the Bowfest Country Fair Contests.The Bowfest Country Fair is one of the favourite Bowfest traditions. This year, the Country Fair contests are being hosted byBowen Agriculture Alliance members and volunteers! As the Country Fair Contests are part of Bowfest, there will be Bowfest ribbons awarded for theeight categories, with one nice ribbon for each of the adult category winners and one nice ribbon for each of the youth category winners; so if you want to win one of these coveted ribbons, don't forget to bring your entries to the BAA Country Fair tent by 12:30 p.m. Anyone can enter. People's choice judging starts at 12:45 p.m., and the panel of judges will give their opinions by 3 p.m. Contest winners will be announced at 3:30 p.m.
There will be 16 Bowfest 2012 Country Fair first place fancy ribbons awarded: eight to adults 19 and older and eight to youth. There are two dozen Bowfest 2012 Country Fair honorable mention ribbons to win as well.
Contest Categories:
1. Tallestsunflower: Bring a sunflower or a photo of the sunflower and proof of height.
2. Biggest zucchini: Bring a zucchini to be measured and weighed.
3. Best zucchini recipe/bake-off: Bring a zucchini dish with at least five serving portions for the panel of judges.
4. Strangest-looking root vegetable: Bring a root vegetable and a story explaining what it looks like.
5. Bestphoto of a bee - any type of bee: Bring a print of the photo and remember that you must be the person that took the picture.
6. Garden wow: photo or sample of strangest/most exotic legal plant grown in your garden on Bowen: Bring a photo or a sample of the plant and explain why you think it was incredible that you grew this plant on Bowen.
7. Best chicken award:You can win this contest through photos, drawings, essays or online media. Share with us why you think your chicken is the best.
8. Bowfest theme idea - people's choice award:Bring in poster-style drawings of what you would like to see for next year's Bowfest. All the entries for the 2012 year will be on display as well as fresh ideas. The people's choice awards will help the Bowfest board choose the theme for 2013.
