Since 2003, 56 students from Bowen Community School have received a gift of books from the memorial fund created in Carolynne’s memory.
Carolynne grew up and went to school on Bowen, left for a while, then returned and for many years worked at the Snug Cove General Store. She was a kind considerate quiet lady who loved to read books and discuss them.
After her too early passing in 2002. her family and friends created the Gift of Reading award in her memory. Each year 4 students are chosen by school staff and are given a gift certificate to choose books from Phoenix.

If you would like to contribute a donation to this fund ,tax receipts are issued by School District #45 for amounts over $25. More information available in the BICS office.
