Now, that was close! With no Dog Days this summer, it looked as though there would be no Dog of the Year. However, with such a dim prospect in view, who should step up but Jasper Friendly Bear who gamely announced “I’ll do it”.
And so a time honoured Bowen tradition was saved for another year.
Born and bred on Bowen, Jasper is all terrier: a fine four part mix of Schnauzer, Jack Russell, Fox terrier and Border terrier. He has spent many seasons keeping Norma Dallas’ docks free of crows and gulls and has been an integral staff member at the Kayak shop. Jasper is also a registered Pet Visitor with Pets and Friends BC as well as being an accomplished sports dog having summited Mt Gardner many times and frequently swims across Killarney Lake.
Jasper Friendly Bear looks forward to meeting you at the Bowfest Parade and will give you a dog biscuit if you are a Good Boy.
