The Bowen Island Garden Club Club's open garden for the month of August is at the home of Jerry George at 1177 Adams Road.
The garden will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. on August 7. There is a small charge for non-members but new memberships can be bought on-site. Visitors should park on Adams Road.
The property is located high above Adams Road facing the south side of Mount Gardner. There is a stiff short walk up from the road which is immediately rewarded with the vision of a classical English cottage garden. A succession of terraces richly planted with flowers and scrubs for all seasons takes the visitor upwards to the house and a large deck with water features and attractive plantings in large earthenware pots.
On a drowsy day at the height of summer this garden works its own kind of magic! Be sure to plan a visit.
