In 1616, on what has traditionally been regarded as the 52nd anniversary of his birth, writer William Shakespeare died in Stratford-upon-Avon in England’s West Midlands.

In 1969, for killing United States senator Robert F. Kennedy, Sirhan Sirhan was sentenced to death, which was later reduced to life imprisonment.

In 1984, the AIDS-virus was identified as HTLV-III (acquired immune deficiency syndrome).

In 2005, YouTube uploaded “Me at the Zoo”, its first clip, showing co-founder Jawed Karim at the San Diego Zoo.
