Labour Day weekend on Bowen: Art in the garden, last book sale of the season

Bowen's got lots on the go this weekend

Bowfest may be over but islanders are squeezing the last drops out of summer over the Labour Day weekend. 

Friday, Sept. 3 to Sunday, Sept. 5:

Friends & Lovers: Art show in the garden: Works by Gregory Cope, Jane Dunfield, William Gracie, Bob Kerr, Coral Louie, David Riddell, Darren Thompson, Reidun Van Kervel, and Diane Buchanan in Buchanan's garden at 1160 Adams Road. Hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Saturday, Sept. 4

FOBILS' last summer mini book sale: Friends of Bowen Island Library is holding its last book sale of the summer, this one featuring fiction and art books. The event runs 10 a.m. to noon on the library lawn if it’s fair weather and inside the annex if it’s raining. 

BAA Farmers' Market: Find goods made, grown, baked on Bowen at Bowen Island Community School, 10 a.m. to noon. Bring cash and a basket for holding your purchases. 

'On the Edge of Beauty' Artists pARTy: Join Niina Chebry and Cathy Jenkins and the Hearth crew for the opening of the artists' joint exhibit 'On the Edge of Beauty', which opened this week. The party runs 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Hearth Gallery. 

Sunday, Sept. 5

Yoga on the Pier: Pop-up classes on the pier, weather permitting, through Nectar Yoga. Space is limited: book online. Drop-in accepted if there's space. $15 per class. Participants asked to arrive 10 minutes early.
