James Tuer a Bowen Island resident, architect, landscape architect and planner has been named as one of Western Canada's top two eco-designers and the winner of "The One to Watch" award for Eco-Design.

This award comes from an esteemed panel of judges and organized by Western Living magazine. He was also named by judges as a finalist for the Arthur Erikson Prize (architecture) and Landscape Designer of the Year in this annual competition that is open to all of Western Canada's design community including fashion design, furniture design, architecture, industrial design, interior design and landscape design.

This is the third regional design award garnered by Tuer this year. Judge Thomas Mueller praised Tuer for his "seamless transitions between homes and the natural environment" which is a hallmark of JWT designs. James' goal is to always connect to the land and build homes that work in harmony with the earth. Mr. Tuer is also well known on Bowen Island as the planner who recently reviewed the Snug Cove planning of the last 10 years and developed four plans (based on the best ideas brought forward in the past) which went to community consultation last year and which worked within the geographical and environmental constraints of the Cove.
