Practice your tricks for Dog Days

Calling all canines! It's that time of year again. On Sunday, August 12, the place to be for pooches and people alike will be the USSC lawn for the 21st annual Dog Days of Summer.

Calling all canines! It's that time of year again. On Sunday, August 12, the place to be for pooches and people alike will be the USSC lawn for the 21st annual Dog Days of Summer. Make sure to come in costume because we kick the day off with a costume parade and prize for best-dressed dog.

The fun lasts all day with more contests (I hope you've all been practicing your peanut butter-eating and 11-legged race skills) and of course prizes to the best! Have your pet's portrait painted and enjoy performances by Ducks and Dogs and agility experts. We have refreshments with hot dogs for everyone and a beer garden for the old dogs learning new tricks. Those with opposable thumbs should make sure to email us a photo of their pooch along with their reasons why that particular canine deserves to be crowned dog of the year. Remember that the winner gets the prime spot in the Bowfest parade.

Registration begins at 11 a.m. and the events start at noon. Only $5 per dog (humans get in free!) and all proceeds go to the BC Guide Dogs and Autism Dogs. Do your part by contributing to a great cause and have a ton of fun at the same time.

A special thank-you to our sponsors: the Bowen Island Dog Ranch, Bowen Veterinary Services, Cormorant Marine, Dee Elliot with Macdonald Realty, First Credit Union, IRLY Building Centre, Korna Pet Food, Miksa, the Snug Cove General Store, T-Rex Excavating, and the Union Steamship Company Marina.

Please feel free to contact us for more information, and make sure to practice.
