Two North Shore schools put their imagination to the test and came up big.

Seycove and Collingwood high schools competed in the provincial Destination Imagination tournament held April 7 at Johnston Heights Secondary in Surrey.

There were 95 teams in all competing in one of six challenges: technical, engineering, fine arts, scientific, improv and service learning.

Six teams from Seycove and five from Collingwood took home top awards.

Each team works on a challenge for several weeks to create an original solution that includes a live eight-minute presentation featuring a story, props, costumes, backdrops and technical applications.

In addition each team must complete a surprise instant challenge which incorporates rapid ideation and implementation.

Seycove and Collingwood now qualify to move on to the global Destination Imagination finals in Knoxville, Tenn., from May 23 to 26.
