As the weather warms up, it’s time to embrace the arrival of spring and get our gardens ready for the season ahead.

For those in need of some gardening inspiration, you’ll want to drop by Earthwise Society’s earth-friendly plant sale on Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., just in time for Mother’s Day.

Flowers don’t just look pretty; they play a crucial role in our ecosystem. They provide food and shelter for wildlife, help clean the air, and prevent soil erosion. Plus, they’re essential for pollinators like bees, which we rely on for much of our food production.

At the plant sale, you’ll find a variety of pesticide-free, native, and bee-friendly plants. Some popular choices for this time of year include brunneras, a great plant for shade that can provide a much-needed nectar and pollen source for honeybees early in the spring.

And don’t forget to bring all your gardening questions!

There will be Master Gardeners on site, including a flower/herbaceous specialist and a veggie specialist.

This event is not only a great opportunity to pick up some new plants, but also to connect with fellow gardening enthusiasts and learn from each other’s experiences.

Earthwise staff will also be available to offer tips on creating Earth-friendly gardens.
