Time is ripe for a summer social

This Sunday, Aug. 21, we will celebrate a summer social out on the lawn of the museum with great music, delicious food and refreshments, and a fundraising raffle.

The Bowen Island Historians welcome all community and visitors to come and take part in a day of celebration of Bowen history, summer, and the fruits of summer's hard labour. The staff at the museum has been working on numerous projects and would love to share our progress and enthusiasm with the rest of Bowen. The museum will open its doors for community to see the exhibits, and the ongoing process of a major painting project.

From 1 to 4 p.m., we will be serving delicious sandwiches and sweets in the fashion of high tea, as well as coffee, tea, and other refreshments. You can feel free to wander through the museum, have a bite, and sway to the musical stylings of Marc Gawthrop. Mayor Bob Turner will honour the event by telling stories of his own Bowen history.

Come out and get involved in Bowen history with a suggested donation of $5. The money will support the continued health of the organization, and other public and educational programming.

We will also sell tickets to, and draw, a raffle. The prizes have been donated by local businesses, and BC Ferries. The proud sponsors have been very generous and prizes range from a night at the Old Dorm, to BC Ferries travel vouchers, a beautiful painting from Nature Encounters Tour and Travel, and delicious sweets from Cocoa West, as well as other surprises from Bowen Village Video, Wren, and Phoenix on Bowen.

Come on and join in the fun, lend your support, and try your luck for a good cause.
