Visitor centre is getting ready

The summer season is just around the corner and the Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC) is ready to welcome the world to Bowen Island.

The summer season is just around the corner and the Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC) is ready to welcome the world to Bowen Island. As you might have heard, BIAC has taken over the operation of the visitors' centre in Snug Cove (the little blue cottage). We are combining traditional visitor centre services with a small art gallery and gift shop that will feature art by local artists and artisans.

Businesses, please bring us your rack cards, business cards, or other advertising materials to the visitor centre on Wednesday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or Thursday, May 17, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Artists, please bring us small gift items (paintings, cards, CDs, jewelry, mugs, prints, etc.) under $100.Available display space is at a premium so please limit the number of items you bring. You can always replenish throughout the season.

The visitor centre is set to open on Saturday, May 19. You can also bring in your items during our operating hours but you will get the best spots if you drop them off on one of the above dates.

If you are not already a member of the Bowen Island Arts Council, please become a member.Your membership will help us develop and sustain our visitor centre initiative--maybe even into other seasons! The Bowen Island Municipality is funding a portion of our staffing needs for the summer, but we have many other expenses associated with operating the visitor centre.

Thank you so much for your support of BIAC and our new visitor centre initiative. We are very excited to start welcoming visitors to our Island this summer and to make one of their first impressions of Bowen Island a very positive one.
