Usually, every Jan. 1, dozens of Bowen Islanders run into the frigid waters of Bowen Bay for the Polar Swim.
Perennial organizer Kelly Miller says that the Bowen Bay event is cancelled this year but islanders are encouraged to dip into 2021 nonetheless.
"We don't want to encourage any large group gatherings due to COVID-19," said Miller. "But everyone is encouraged to jump into the nearest body of water and celebrate the new year right!"
Those brave islanders who undertake the chilly challenge are encouraged to send photos to [email protected] for the first Undercurrent of 2021!
