London Drugs’ online booking website is now active and eligible Richmondites are able to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment through the website.

A Richmond-based pharmacy chain announces today that it has opened up online appointment bookings for those aged 55 to 65 who want a COVID-19 vaccine.

London Drugs’ online booking website is now active and eligible Richmondites are able to book their COVID-19 vaccine appointment through the website.

2,200 doses will be distributed amongst its locations in the Lower Mainland before the end of Monday, including the Ironwood Plaza’s location, with additional supply expected in the coming weeks, according to a media release sent to Richmond News

“With the overwhelming demand, we are happy to see the government now accelerating the distribution of the vaccine through our pharmacies,” said Chris Chiew, General Manager of Pharmacy at London Drugs, in a statement.

The provincial government revealed last Tuesday that it would begin offering the AstraZeneca vaccine at local pharmacies within the Vancouver Coastal Health and Fraser Health regions to those between the ages of 55 and 65.

However, supply quickly ran out and until Monday people have only been able to sign up to be notified when more dosages arrived, and at that point book an appointment.

This comes after the province paused the use of the AstraZeneca for those under 55 due to growing concerns that the vaccine is tied to a small number of blood clots emerging from those who have received the jab.

Patients will also be able to join a waitlist so that when the inventory is used up, they will be notified when more appointments become available. Everyone wanting an appointment must go through the same booking system.

Those eligible can also put their names on waitlists at any of the approved pharmacies (https://www.bcpharmacy.ca/resource-centre/covid-19/vaccination-locations) to be contacted when supply arrives.
