The body found on Harding Road on Bowen Island on May 20 has been identified as 19-year-old Mitchell Gallivan from Vancouver, according to the BC Coroners Service. Gallivan had been reported missing to the Vancouver Police Department in October 2011 after he had completed his first year of engineering at UBC.
The coroner's report concluded that an autopsy and thorough investigation have ruled out foul play in Gallivan's death and Cpl Nancy Joyce of the Bowen Island RCMP said that there are no concerns for public safety.
Cpl Joyce added that it is currently under investigation how the body came to be on Bowen Island.
