Bowen Island Municipality unveiled its newest mascot last week: a Pacific Chorus Frog, also known as a Pacific Tree Frog.
Frog joins BIM's other mascots: deer, eagle, seal and slug.
To mark the occasion and in honour of World Frog Day (which is March 20 so during spring break) BIM’s manager of environment and parks planning, Bonny Brokenshire and environment and parks planning coordinator Carla Skuce gave presentations to Bowen Island Community School students and Island Pacific School students (pictured here) last week.
Road signs with the new mascot on them will go up on Mt. Gardner Rd. by Killarney Lake to warn drivers to slow down and watch for the frogs that hop across the road in spring and fall.
