The Bowen Island RCMP has been investigating six reports of break and enters to residences since January 25. Money, jewellery and electronics have been targeted. These occurrences were spread throughout the island. Some of the houses were unlocked at the time of the thefts and, on a few occasions, the occupants were only gone for a short time.
The Sunshine Coast RCMP is also investigating five break and enters to million-dollar-plus seasonal residences along the Sunshine Coast, the most recent one being on Keats Island. All houses were accessed by boat and had limited road access. The houses had their electricity cut and alarms disabled before entry was gained.
It is believed the same suspect is responsible for all the Sunshine Coast break and enters.  It is not believed that the Bowen Island and Sunshine Coast break and enters are related.
RCMP are reminding people lock their doors and windows when away and keep cash and other valuables locked in a safe or hidden. If you are going away for an extended period of time, have someone check on your residence regularly or, better yet, have a friend house sit for you.
