The Burnaby Horsemen's Association is hosting an open house May 4.

Meet local horses and ponies this weekend at the Burnaby Horsemen's Association's spring open house.

The non-profit is hosting a free, family-friendly event including horse demonstrations, pony rides (supported by the Urban Horse Project), children's arts and crafts, barn tours and mounted drill team performances.

There will also be a cash-only barbecue and concession.

The facility is about a 15-minute walk from the Production Way-University SkyTrain station.

The association was founded in 1968 and operates on land leased from the City of Burnaby.

With three barns, the facility is home to up to 59 independently owned horses.
