‘Tis the season of expressing love and gratitude and friendship and the warmest of feelings. And often we do this by seeking out an object or experience to give to that special person who makes our life that much richer. We look high and low for something to convey meaning and that will bring joy or delight.
It can be very challenging to find the perfect present for those significant others on our list. But on Bowen, thanks to the high number of resident artists and craftspeople, the task is just a little easier.
The Bowen Island Arts Council (BIAC) is happy to come to the aid of intrepid shoppers with It’s a Wrap, our annual end-of-the-year showcase of stunning (and in some cases) functional artwork featuring unique hand-made gifts created by more than 40 local artists. The show and sale runs through to Jan. 3. The gala opening reception was last Friday, (Dec. 11) featuring lively entertainment by Marc Gawthrop.
From clothing to pottery, paintings to jewellery, we have an array of items that will please and excite. Also available are gift certificates for creative experiences, such as our fabulous Eat. Drink. Paint class. Shopping locally means everyone benefits, our local businesses thrive, and the money spent stays on island. Once more, strolling local shops means you avoid the hassle of heading to the city to frenzied malls and endless traffic snares. The Gallery is open seven days per week during December, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please come by and enjoy the spirit of the season with us.
