A search and rescue team has joined police in hunting for a missing 75-year-old man whose vehicle was found at Englishman River Falls Park.
After John Mathers’ family reported him missing Monday afternoon, his unoccupied vehicle was located at 7 p.m. at the park in Errington, south of Parksville.
Arrowsmith Search and Rescue joined Oceanside RCMP in a search of the park and surrounding area on Monday into the evening, starting again at daylight on Tuesday.
Mathers is described as white, five-foot-10 and 140 pounds, and balding with light-brown hair and a short beard. He was wearing black sweatpants, a black jacket, a black ball cap and grey runners.
Anyone who sees Mathers or who has information on his whereabouts is asked to contact Oceanside RCMP at 250-248-6111.
