Due to a mechanical difficulty with the propulsion system onboard Island Discovery, some sailings between Blubber Bay (Texada Island) and Westview (Powell River) terminals have been cancelled.

The vessel was on the way back to Blubber Bay with tug boat assistance, according to a BC Ferries update at 11:40 am on Tuesday, April 16. At 4 pm, BC Ferries announced that divers have been sourced to help investigate the issue. Another round trip was officially cancelled at that time.

Cancelled sailings:
11:25 am departing Blubber Bay (Texada Island)
12:15 pm departing Westview (Powell River)

3 pm departing Blubber Bay (Texada Island)
3:45 pm departing Westview (Powell River)

5:05 pm departing Blubber Bay (Texada Island)
6 pm departing Westview (Powell River)

Two foot-passenger-only water taxis will provide service until further notice. Water taxi service began with a 12:15 pm departure from Westview, and continues with round trips to the Van Anda/Texada Boat Club dock on Texada.

At 6:06 pm, BC Ferries announced that all sailings for the remainder of the day have been cancelled.
