BC Ferries’ Queen of Capilano returns to service in the afternoon of March 3, restoring regular vehicle capacity to the Horseshoe Bay – Bowen Island route, following an extensive two-month major refit.

Over the past two months, the Queen of Capilano underwent an extensive mechanical refit and drydocking; a passenger accommodation upgrade; installation of new car deck deluge piping; and upgrades to the sewage system.

“We want to thank our Bowen Island customers for their patience during the refit period, which was conducted during the off-season to try to reduce any impact on our passengers,” said Mike Corrigan, BC Ferries EVP and Chief Operating Officer. “I’m pleased our project team was able to expedite the refit, which has enabled us to return the ship to the Bowen Island route nearly two full weeks ahead of schedule.”

The Bowen Queen, which is a smaller vessel, provided service on the Horseshoe Bay – Bowen Island route during the Queen of Capilano’s refit period.
