Crews are rescuing a parachutist who got stuck on the side of the Stawamus Chief.

Squamish Search and Rescue manager Landon James said that helicopters are en route to get the stranded person.

“We have everyone possible responding at this point,” he said.

The parachutist doesn’t appear to be in any immediate danger at the moment.

“We haven't made contact with him yet, but he looks secure at this point,” said James.

“He is moving, which is good.”

Update: A posting on Sea to Sky Road Conditions, a popular Facebook group for local traffic information, says that the stretch of Highway 99 near the Chief is being intermittedly closed to allow for the helicopters to take off.
