On September 5, 6 and 7, women will have the opportunity to get a mammogram on Bowen Island at Dr. Zandy's office (101 - 495 Bowen Trunk Road), downstairs from Cates Pharmacy.
"The Screening Mammography Program provides mammograms to B.C. women ages 40 to 79," said BC Cancer Agency's Kendal Romanishen."No doctor's referral is needed and the appointments take about 15 minutes."
Romanishen said that 110 women were screened in 2012. The service scheduled for last September was in such high demand that an extra session had to be scheduled in November.
She advises to schedule an appointment early.
"There are 149 appointments available during the September visit this year. Women can send an email to book an appointment by going to www.smpbc.ca, and click on Book your Appointment. They can also call 1-800-663-9203," Romanishen said.
She added that women should have theirB.C. Care Card on hand when booking.
