The following are some of the calls Delta Police responded to in the previous week:
Jan. 17, 5:20 a.m., 4800 block of Delta Street: Police were dispatched to a reported theft in progress of a catalytic converter after a resident observed two males under a pickup truck. Police conducted an extensive search upon attendance, but the suspects had fled at the time of dispatch.
Jan. 17, 9:29 a.m., 4600 block of Orca Way: Police responded to a reported theft from auto overnight to a vehicle parked in a residential driveway. The vehicle, left unlocked, had approximately $300 of valuables taken, with no CCTV or witnesses available.
Jan. 18, 11:37 a.m., 4455 Clarence Taylor Crescent: A resident with an outstanding warrant for their arrest attended Delta Police headquarters to turn themselves in. Police contacted the issuing agency and confirmed the warrant before formally arresting the individual, processing their warrant, and releasing them with a court date.
Jan. 19, 8:21 a.m., 6500 block of Highway 17: Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle travelling at excessive speed (133 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone). Police issued the driver a violation ticket for excessive speed, and had the vehicle towed for the mandated seven-day period.
Jan. 20, 8:53 p.m., 4900 block of Canoe Pass Way: Police responded to a suspected impaired driver called in by a taxi driver in a drive-thru. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop to check for sobriety. Police read the driver the Approved Screening Device (ASD) demand, and subsequently conducted the roadside test, which resulted in “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition, and mandatory 30-day vehicle impoundment.
Jan. 21, 3:19 a.m., 1900 block of Tsawwassen Drive: Police responded to a suspected impaired driver called in by a resident who observed a collision. Police located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop to check for sobriety. Police read the driver the ASD demand, and subsequently conducted the roadside test, which resulted in “fail.” The driver was issued a 90-day driving prohibition, and mandatory 30-day vehicle impoundment. Police also arrested a passenger for breaching curfew.
