Pacific Ferries will once again be doing its commuter and island-hopping tour services this summer, and Bowen is on the docket.

After a soft launch next week, the services will start in earnest in June.

The commuter service will leave Gibsons Landing  at 6:20 a.m. daily and will arrive at Coal Harbour at about 8 a.m. An evening service will leave the Westin Bayshore Marina every afternoon at 4:40 p.m.

For now it’s a by-reservation service to Bowen Island, though the company’s general manager Sabina Smirnow says that the company is open to doing a scheduled run.

The ferry can hold up to 60 people. The rates last year were $15 one way and $25 round-trip.

The island-hopping tour is designed for tourists, but Smirnow said quite a few locals enjoyed it last year. It will spend an hour on Bowen daily, between 9:30 and 10:30 a.m., as the first stop on a three-island excursion, which also includes Gibson's Landing and Granville Island.
