The commute to Vancouver: A chilled way to start the day

Bowen ranked among top places to live by the UK’s Sunday Times
times
Bowen Island, as described by the Sunday Times.

In case you’ve missed the hulabaloo... Bowen Island has made the list of top places to live abroad by the Sunday Times newspaper. Bowen ranks at number 11, because the top spots (which include Adelaide, Australia; Aix-En-Provence, France; and Amsterdam) have all been ranked alphabetically.
Murray Atherton, the chair of Tourism Bowen Island, says he’s received half a dozen emails commenting on the piece from England and one from the Canadian Consulate in the US.
“I would think that every developer, and anyone selling real estate on Bowen would be grabbing on to this article and using it as part of their pitch,” says Atherton. “It is really, absolutely awesome.”
The Undercurrent has contacted the Sunday Times in an attempt to learn how the writers of the piece learned about Bowen Island, however, we have yet to hear back.
The short piece does appear well-researched, with recognition of the fact that as lovely as the deer may be they do enjoy the fruits of local gardeners’ labours. However, based on comments about the daily commute to Vancouver, the writers clearly did not manage to attend any recent BIMTAC (Bowen Island Municipal Transportation Advisory Committee) meetings. Also, we would probably be described more accurately as, “gumboot country,” than,“Birkenstock territory.”
