Updated 7 a.m. Feb. 21: The Queen of Capilano's mechanical issues that caused an evening of sailing cancellations Wednesday are fixed. The ferry began its regular scheduled runs as of 5:20 a.m. Thursday.

Updated at 10:15 p.m.: After an evening of ferry cancellations, BC Ferries has three water taxis on standby for Thursday morning in case the Queen of Capilano isn't fixed yet.

"Technical staff continue to affect repairs on the generator and an update will be provided later tonight," reads a service notice on the BC Ferries website.  "Three water taxis are on standby for tomorrow morning should they be required; two 38-person capacity from Bowen Island and one 40-person capacity from Horseshoe Bay."

The service notice says that the sailings were cancelled due to a water leak in one of the ship's generators.

All Bowen sailings after 6:50 p.m. Wednesday evening were cancelled.

"A water taxi will follow the regular schedule commencing with the 8 p.m. departure from Horseshoe Bay," read a service notice on the BC Ferries website.  "We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience you may experience as a result of these cancellations."

Islanders are organizing on the Bowen Island Everything Else Facebook page to provide rides for those stranded in the cove after unexpectedly being unable to drive home.
