Was a hot tub and pool why this $1.3M Port Coquitlam home sold in just four days?

You'd be surprise at how many homes have pools in the city as they were a popular feature in homes built in the swinging '60s.

Home buyers dreaming of a pool and a hot tub on a large lot might want to consider Port Coquitlam.

Currently, there are four homes up for sale in the city with pools, and a fifth just recently sold for $1.335 million in only four days.

Built in the 1960s, many of these older homes on large lots were constructed at a time of optimism, when families were large and pools were considered a must-have.

A number of homes with pools appear to be located in Port Coquitlam's Mary Hill neighbourhood, including the one that recently sold.

A hot tub and a pool were major selling features for the 2,479 sq-ft. single-family home, located at 1516 Eastern Dr. in the Mary Hill neighbourhood.

"Come and visit this Port Coquitlam Oasis now while it's cold and wet and enjoy the beautiful new hot tub and then when the sun shines and it's hot outside you'll be the envy of all your friends as you lounge in and around this fabulous private pool," the listing states.

It turns out someone did drop by and offered $6,000 more than the asking price and signed a deal on Nov. 2 for the 56-year-old home, which includes five bedrooms, four bathrooms and sits on a nearly 8,000 sq-ft. lot.

The most recent BC Assessment valuation for the Eastern Drive home, as of July 1, 2021, meanwhile, is $1,173,800, which means the buyer paid $151,200 more than the current assessed value.

And that's not all, there are another four homes in Port Coquitlam for sale with pools.

Prices range from $1.3 to $2.6 million, and so aren't for anyone struggling between pay checks.

Still, some of the homes are lovely and include:
