Following the Loggers’ competition on Aug. 20, golfers and non-golfers are encouraged to attend the BC Bantam Provincial Golf Championships. We are honoured to have been chosen to host, in concert with BC Golf, this provincial championship for boys and girls 14 years and under. While young, some of these aspiring professionals have zero handicaps so we will all witness some first-class, entertaining and competitive golf.
BC Golf advises we expect a record 72 entries, so please join us in welcoming the players, their families and BC Golf officials in making this the best ever event. With billets in place for some of the entrants, a fine group of volunteers and a course in Augusta-type condition, all that is needed to round out the event are some spectators cheering on the players. Youth are particularly welcome to witness what lessons, practice and commitment can do for a game we can play for a lifetime.
We look forward to seeing a good turnout to showcase the community and the course and to demonstrate, that in spite of our “catchy” new tagline…Bowen really is not such an awful place. And to think this is all for free.
