The 2023 Tunstall Tennis Tournaments

Tunstall Bay Community Association was host to a pair of competitions this month

The Tunstall Tennis Tourneys are over for another year. Our apologies to any tennis fans not getting word of our island-wide tournament fun. Next year will be different!

The Mens Doubles tourney was played last Sunday, with Peter Kearney and Henry Campbell the victors. We played a round robin tournament with different partners for a change. The draw was tricky, but rallies enthralling, as five rounds were played before the finals.

A different format occurred with the Mixed Doubles tourney a fortnight ago. Points within a round robin held out fun for all, with Margarita Hofer and Jackie Minns taking the ladies trophies and Peter Kearney and Court Brousson as bridesmaids. Peter brings a deft volley and keen eye to take the double - congratulations Peter.

Once again, our enormous thanks to Tunstall Bay Community Association (TBCA) for providing a stellar location, from the tennis cabana and deck overlooking two beautiful tennis courts. Thanks also to Court Brousson for organizing food, drinks, and tourney schedules, and all those willing assistants that made the days fun!

Please do reach out to TBCA if you’re interested in playing tennis, or especially if any kids are keen to learn the game or share the fun that our game has to offer. There’s nothing like a crisp volley, down the line winner, or deft drop shot. And sharing all this with others.

See you next year!
