B.C. Lions sign American wide receiver Hakeem Butler

The B.C. Lions have signed American wide receiver Hakeem Butler, the team announced Tuesday. The 25-year-old was a fourth-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 NFL draft but a hand injury cost him his rookie training camp.

The 25-year-old was a fourth-round selection of the Arizona Cardinals in the 2019 NFL draft but a hand injury cost him his rookie training camp.

Butler signed with the Carolina Panthers practice squad in 2020 before landing with the Philadelphia Eagles and appearing in two games that season.

He attended training camp with the Panthers in 2021.

The six-foot-five, 225-pound Baltimore native played three years at Iowa State after redshirting in 2015. 

In 2018, he was named second-team All-Big-12 after hauling in 60 receptions for 1,318 yards and nine touchdowns in 13 games played.
